Money Magic from the Village: Coins, Bread and Dill Seed

By Haggath ·

Money troubles are old troubles, moja droga. The village had its own quiet magic for keeping the larder full, and I still use the heart of it in my spells.

A coin under the tablecloth

On Christmas Eve, Wigilia, a coin and a little hay are slipped under the tablecloth so the coming year is never without bread or money. Many Polish families still do it without thinking of it as magic at all.

The carp scale in the wallet

A scale from the Wigilia carp is dried and kept in the purse all year. A small thing — but small things kept faithfully are the root of all money magic.

Never waste bread

My grandmother kissed a piece of bread before throwing it away, if she ever had to. Respect for what feeds you calls more of it to you. This respect sits at the centre of my money and career work.

Results vary. A spell is a spiritual practice, not a guarantee, and never a substitute for medical, legal or financial advice.
