Some troubles have no name. You wake tired, the days feel grey, and the world seems far away behind glass. My grandmother called this a heavy spirit, and she did not wait for it to pass on its own.

These are my spirit and energy spells: workings to lift a low spirit, to clear old weight from the body and the home, to sharpen intuition, and to bring back a little light after a long winter of trouble. I use St John's wort gathered at midsummer, mugwort, clean water and candlelight. Every spell is cast by hand, here at the edge of the pine forest, and I write to you afterwards about the work.
